What is the Difference between a Turbine Flow Meter and an Electromagnetic Flow Meter?
Sino-Inst has more than 20 years of instrument measurement experience. Based on our experience, we have sorted out the differences between turbine flowmeter and electromagnetic flowmeter.
- Working principle
The turbine flow meter rotates the turbine by impacting the turbine blades with fluid, and the speed of the turbine changes with the flow rate.
The electromagnetic flowmeter works based on Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction. When a conductive fluid flows through a magnetic field perpendicular to the flow direction, an electromotive force is induced in the conductor, and its magnitude is proportional to the flow rate of the fluid.
- Measuring medium
The turbine flowmeter cannot measure conductive liquids, liquids with high viscosity and liquids with many impurities. It is mostly used to measure oils.
The electrical flowmeter can measure conductive liquids, liquids with high viscosity and liquids containing impurities. It can measure slurries, pastey, acid and alkali corrosive liquids.
- Composition material
The turbine flowmeter uses stainless steel or PE to measure corrosive liquids.
The electromagnetic flowmeter uses a custom lining material. As long as the medium is compatible with the custom lining material. Then the electromagnetic flowmeter can measure other corrosive media.
Which Flow Device is Suitable for Measuring Large Pipes?
We at Sino-Inst have a variety of products that can be used to measure large-diameter pipes. The first three products can only measure the flow of liquids, and the fourth product can only be used to measure gas.:
- Electromagnetic Flow Meter:Its maximum measuring diameter is DN2200mm, which is the product on this page, which is the product on this page.
- Insertion Magnetic Flow Meter: Its maximum measuring diameter is DN3000mm. It only needs to be installed by drilling holes, and the cost is low.
- Clamp-on Ultrasonic Flow Meter: Its maximum measuring diameter is DN6000mm. It does not need to be installed by drilling holes, which is convenient and fast.
- Insertion Thermal Mass Flow Meter: Its maximum measuring diameter is DN4000mm. It can measure dry gas.
