Static Torque Sensor Introduction

With the rapid development of industrial automation, torque measurement has become increasingly important in many fields. A static torque force sensor is a high-precision measurement tool. It is widely used in various production lines.

Static Torque Sensor

1. Basic principle of static torque force sensor

The static torque sensor is based on strain gauge electrical measurement technology. The bridge is composed of strain gauges pasted on the elastic shaft. When the elastic shaft is subjected to torque. Its deformation will cause a change in the bridge resistance. The change of resistance is linearly related to strain. The magnitude of torque can be obtained by measuring the change in resistance.

2. Measurement method of the static torque force sensor

Direct measurement method

The direct measurement method is to install the static torque force sensor on the transmission shaft and directly measure the torque of the transmission shaft. This method has high accuracy and is suitable for occasions with high strength and low speed of the transmission shaft.

Indirect measurement method

The indirect measurement method is to measure physical quantities related to torque, such as speed and motor. Then the torque value is obtained through a certain calculation formula. This method is suitable for occasions where the sensor cannot be installed directly, but the accuracy is relatively low.

Static Torque Sensor Application

Torque sensors are widely used in the mechanical field. Here are some typical application scenarios:

1. Automotive industry:

Measure the output torque of the engine to obtain the acceleration performance and fuel consumption of the car. In addition, torque sensors can also be used in the four-wheel drive system of the car to achieve the distribution and control of wheel torque.

2. Industrial robots:

Measure the joint torque of the robot to achieve precise control of the robot’s movement. In addition, torque sensors can also be used for load sensing of robots to achieve autonomous obstacle avoidance and self-protection of robots.

3. Wind power generation:

Measure the output torque of the wind wheel to obtain the conversion efficiency of wind energy. In addition, the torque sensor can also be used for torque control of the wind turbine to adjust the wind turbine speed and load.

4. Mechanical transmission system:

Measure the output torque of the transmission system to obtain the transmission efficiency of the system. Achieve load control and fault diagnosis of the transmission system.

What is the Life Expectancy of a Torque Sensor?

The service life of a torque sensor is affected by many factors. Generally speaking, under normal use and maintenance conditions, its service life can reach 5-10 years. However, if the use environment is harsh, the frequency of use is high, or the maintenance is improper, the service life may be shortened.

Static Torque Sensor

What is the Most Accurate Way to Measure Torque?

When rotating at low speed, we use a resistance strain gauge sensor.

When rotating at high speed, we can choose a phase difference torque sensor.
