Metal Rotameter/Variable Area Flow Meters

The metal rotameter is a variable area flow meter commonly used in industrial automation process control. It is small in size and operates stably and reliably. Introduction of the Metal Rotameter

The metal rotameter consists of a measuring tube and a side indicator. The field indicator can also be equipped with an additional electric device. The flow meter adopts the variable area measurement principle. The measuring device consists of a conical measuring tube and a float. The float can move freely up and down in the conical measuring tube, thereby changing the flow area in the measuring tube. When the flow changes, the vertical position of the float in the measuring tube also changes accordingly.

Our metal rotameter has two types: mechanical and intelligent. The intelligent type is based on the MCU microprocessor. It uses magnetic sensors, digital filtering, software correction and other digital signal processing technologies to detect magnetic field changes and provide a good human-computer interaction interface through the LCD screen. It can output 4- 20mA current signals, upper and lower limit alarms and other signals. It can display instantaneous flow and accumulated flow, providing more convenience for users. It is widely used in flow detection and process control in industrial sectors such as national defense, chemical industry, petroleum, metallurgy, energy, medicine, light industry, food, water treatment, etc.Metal Rotameter structure

Metal Rotameter Working Principle

The measured medium flows from bottom to top through the measuring tube float. And the upper and lower ends generate differential pressure to form a rising force. When the rising force on the float is greater than the weight of the float immersed in the fluid. The float rises, the annular gap area increases accordingly.

And the fluid flow rate at the annular gap drops rapidly. The differential pressure between the upper and lower ends of the float decreases, and the lifting force acting on the float decreases accordingly. When the lifting force is balanced with the weight of the float immersed in the fluid. The float stabilizes at a certain position, and the height of the float position corresponds to the flow rate of the measured medium. The float has a built-in magnet, and when the float moves up and down with the medium, the magnetic field changes with the movement of the float.
